Ingredients

500g lean pork mince (5% fat)
2 teaspoons oil
2 teaspoons garlic and ginger paste or purée
4 tablespoons hoisin sauce
Pinch Chinese 5-spice powder
2 tablespoons runny honey
2 teaspoons reduced salt soy sauce
100g fresh or frozen peas
Small handful finely chopped spring onions

Method

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large non-stick pan over moderate heat until searing hot.

Step 2

Add the pork and garlic and ginger paste or purée. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the mince starts to brown and caramelise. 

Step 3

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, 5spice powder, honey, soy sauce, and 4 tablespoons cold water. Add to the pan. 

Step 4

Cook for 6-8 minutes until crispy and cooked through, stirring occasionally. 2 minutes before the mince is cooked, add the peas. 

Step 5

Garnish with the spring onions and serve with egg fried rice.
