Senior Sausage Selector Competition – Terms & Conditions


Terms & conditions:

  1. By entering this competition, entrants will be deemed to have read and accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions.
  2. Entry to the Competition is by emailing [email protected].
  3. The competition is open from Thursday 25th August until 23:59 on Sunday 4th September, inclusive (11 days).
  4. The winner will be notified via email on Tuesday 6th September and will need to respond by 23:59 on Wednesday 7th September to take up the position.
  5. Applications cannot be made to the competition if you have entered into the British Sausage Week Trade competition or have any alliances with competitors.
  6. The application is made by the submission of approx. 100 words or less by email, as to why an entrant is passionate about sausages and prove a reasonable knowledge as to the varied types of pork sausages.
  7. The winner will be determined by the majority decision of three judges based against the above criteria. These three judges will include two external parties to

There is one prize available: appointment as Senior Sausage Selector and place on the judging panel for British Sausage Week on either Wednesday 14th or Thursday 15th September; 2 nights’ accommodation for up to two people at a four star hotel including breakfast and dinner to be arranged by the promoter; travel to and from the accommodation plus the judging destination (Harper Adams University, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 8NB); tasting of a selection of pork sausages as part of the judging role.
  9. The hotel accommodation, breakfast and dinner is offered to two people. Access and transport to the judging location, however, will only be made available to The Senior Sausage Selector and not their guest.
  10. The hotel accommodation will be available on the nights of either 13th and 14th September (for judging role on Wednesday 14th) or 14th and 15th September (for judging role on 15th September) in a four‐star hotel in or near Telford and travel must be completed on either the 13th and 15th September (for judging role on Wednesday 14th) or 14th or 16th September (for judging role on 15th September).
  11. The job vacancy is being offered as a competition prize and not the offer of a permanent role with
  12. The successful appilicant will receive an honorarium for expenses paid in the form of the competition prize as outlined above. This is a non-paid position and there will be no monetary payment made.
  13. The position of senior sausage selector is to fulfil one day to assist the judging of the competition. Any further involvement in British Sausage Week or outside of this one day would have to be reached by mutual agreement by both parties.
  14. The winning applicant must be available on either Wednesday 14th or Thursday 15th September and be prepared to taste a selection of pork sausages.
  15. Winners will be selected by based on quality of applications.
  16. Travel will be standard class train travel – or road travel up to an equivalent value.
  17. Entry is open to individuals residing in England, Scotland and Wales only. Proof of address may be required.
  18. Entrants must be aged 18 or over. Proof of identity and age may be required.
  19. Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification.
  20. Entries that are incomplete, illegible, indecipherable, or inaudible will not be valid and deemed void.
  21. accepts no responsibility for any lost or delayed entries, as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
  22. All entries must be made directly by the person(s) entering the competition and only one application may be made per person.
  23. The prize is as stated and not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.
  24. The promoters reserve the right to amend or alter the terms of competitions at any time and reject entries from entrants not entering into the spirit of the competition.
  25. The winner(s) agree(s) to the use of their name, photograph and disclosure of competition entry and will co‐operate with any other reasonable requests relating to additional publicity.
  26. Where applicable, the decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into over this decision.
