Delia Effect Drives Up Sales Of Gammon By 294 Per Cent

It has been a pub grub staple for years and is usually seen sporting a garish pineapple ring, but now the humble gammon joint is experiencing an unlikely revival – thanks to the Delia effect.
The meat had fallen out of fashion since its stint as a Sunday roast essential in the 70s and 80s. But it has been flying off the shelves this month after it was recommended by Delia Smith.
Sales were up by 294 per cent on last year after the cook featured a recipe for her blackened gammon with salted caramel crackling on a television advert over Easter.
