YOUR HOLIDAYS AT HOME… WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM LOVE PORK

25 August 2010 from Love Pork

With many of us returning from our summer holidays, now is the perfect time to recreate that feeling of rest, relaxation and enjoyment that comes with eating outdoors on foreign shores and perhaps even recreate some of the local dishes you tried too.

A new survey* by Love Pork shows that almost 60% of British people feel more relaxed when they eat alfresco, while a further 32% of us say it reminds us of being on holiday. So Love Pork is championing getting out in the garden to make that feeling of summer last a little longer. To help, Love Pork has devised a series of recipes inspired by holiday hotspot The Mediterranean. Using succulent cuts of Red Tractor pork combined with fresh Mediterranean vegetables such as juicy tomatoes and ripe, colourful peppers and a drizzle of olive oil, the recipes are sure to inspire and revive holiday memories of long alfresco evenings.

One such believer of bringing your holidays home, is TV personality and Celebrity MasterChef finalist Christine Hamilton. Christine says “I love exploring new countries and I’m always looking for inspiration from their food. You can either reproduce their dishes exactly or just pinch the idea and add your own twist. Love Pork’s new recipe collection is full of dishes that can be eaten al fresco but are just as good in the kitchen as well.

Outdoor eating is all about relaxed, informal dining, so to make the most of your garden suppers, recipes should be simple and quick to prepare. The selection by Love Pork include Crispy pork and noodle salad with a sweet maple dressing which uses pork belly rashers and tastes delicious tossed with fresh summer vegetables and salad leaves drizzled with maple and pineapple dressing. If you have a bit more time why not try gammon and sausage paella or piri piri style baked sausages for some satisfying summer meals. Alternatively for an instant dinner, pan fried pork fillet with chorizo, peppers and tomatoes can be on the garden table in 15 minutes.

Remember, when shopping for your pork this summer, insist on quality pork, such as that indicated by the Red Tractor logo on pack. This indicates not only the quality and country of origin of the pork, ham and sausages, but also that it is assured and fully traceable back to the farm, and independently inspected at every stage of production
