British Sausage Week 2011 Legendary British Bangers Competition

31st October to 6th November 2011 marks the 14th annual British Sausage Week, which celebrates the great British Banger and promotes the wide range of exciting sausages currently available in Britain.

According to The Grocer magazine, British Sausage Week is the most recognised week in the retailer calendar and in a survey conducted by The Publican magazine it was voted the most celebrated food awareness week, with 43% of pubs taking part. Last year, supporting activity generated a massive £2 million increase in sausage sales during the week itself which equates to an additional 572 tonnes of sausages!

The highlight of British Sausage Week 2011 is the Legendary British Bangers competition. It searches to find the country’s most sensational sausages from all areas of the industry, including butchers and supermarkets to pubs and cafes. Making it to the final stages of the competition is an accolade that many finalists are rightly proud of.

If your company or you know someone who has the most fantastic tasting sausages, enter this year’s competition by simply completing the entry form online or download it and post to BPEX. They need to be returned by 2nd September so don’t leave it too late.

Keep an eye out for the announcement of the celebrity supporting the week, who will be revealed on Lovepork.co.uk during 7th September. The following month he will then be travelling the country from Monday 31st October – Friday 4th November tasting the best sizzlers in the country and awarding each regional finalist with a Gold Disc.
