ANTON DU BEKE BRINGS HOME THE BACON

15 January 2010 from Love Pork

CELEBRITY BALLROOM DANCER LAUNCHES BACON CONNOISSEURS’ WEEK 2010

Not strictly just a connoisseur of dance, self-confessed bacon lover and foodie Anton Du Beke will be cha cha chewing his way through a variety of different bacon cures in the search for the nation’s favourite bacon.

As the celebrity face of this year’s Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week, taking place between the 22nd-28th March 2010, Anton will be heading an expert panel of tasters in the search to find the best bacon cure of 2010 during the national ‘Bring Home the Bacon’ competition. The competition is open to everyone from butchers, chefs, mums, retailers to other bacon fanatics and will judge speciality smoked and unsmoked cures as well as asking participants to submit their best new cure for 2010.

Anton is looking forward to swapping his samba for smoked bacon and his waltz for Wiltshire cured bacon as he looks to discover some of the more unusual bacon cures available such as mustard, black pudding, vodka, black treacle or even cherry as he searches to crown the overall Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week 2010 champion.

Anton Du Beke commented: “I adore bacon and find it’s a great breakfast to set me up before a day full of dance training! I’m really excited to discover the wide selection of different bacon cures out there and to taste some new bacon recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks too. Bring on the bacon!”
